Death of a Dictator

I read an article on CBC yesterday saying that Saddam was going to be hung but I didn’t believe it would be so soon.  Wow.  I’m not really sure how I feel about the whole thing.  There’s certainly a lot of debating going on about it.  What does everyone else think?  I know the man was guilty of killing a lot of innocent people but should the US have even intervened?  Did he get a fair trial?  A friend of mine was going on and on about how the trial was completely unfair because they kept throwing judges out until they found one that would carry through with the guilty/death sentence.  I’ll admit I wasn’t following the trial at all so I have no idea.
I’m sitting here still kinda shocked by the whole thing.  Wow.

I haven’t updated in forever…I know I’m terrible! :P   I’ve been so busy with work and the Christmas rush that I just didn’t get a chance.  I decided today is the day though so here we go!

Was Santa good to everyone this year?  He certainly was here. :)   Santa brought me an elliptical trainer which is exactly what I wanted!  Roy got a brand new watch!  Allison got her play kitchen and hide and seek care bear!  Alex got a ride on Dora the Explorer quad.  Everyone was very happy all around. :)   We spent Christmas Eve at Roy’s parents and went home around 8:30 and put Alex to bed.  My mom and brother showed up at around 10.  Mom went to bed with Allison in our room while Charlie, Roy and I stayed up and watched An American Christmas Carol.  After that we crashed in the livingroom until 3 am and put out the presents.  Sooo much fun. :)   We all woke up at around 9 am, opened our gifts and then had a huge turkey meal for lunch.  Mom and Charlie went home around 1 and we spent the rest of the afternoon being lazy.  Darin and Tyler came down at 6 so we exchanged presents and I fed them more food.  We watched a dvd rip of Borat (Yeah great Christmas movie) then everyone took off.  All in all, it was a great Christmas. :)

Roy and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary yesterday.  It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years already.  Where does time go?  Nick was home from Ottawa so we all got together at the Heritage last night and played some trivia.  Justin and Angie came along as well so it was nice.  Roy and I got to the Heritage early and who did we run into but Shirley-Anne and Chris!  They were kind enough to let the wandering strangers sit at the same table as them and even took a few pictures for us.  Thanks guys! :)   It was wonderful seeing Nick again but at the same time really hard.  It brought back a lot of memories of fun times we had and I miss the fact that I don’t get to see him very often.  I PROMISED I’d make a trip up to Ottawa this summer though so it’s definitely happening.  I even started putting money away for it already so I’ll have zero excuses. :)

The Christmas holidays have me feeling less than pleased with my weight.  I was at 150.5 this morning which really SUCKS but considering my goal is 140-145 I’m not going to fret it.  I kicked my ass on the elliptical this morning and went to the gym yesterday so I’m feeling back on track already.  I’m positive it’s mostly water so I’m ignoring it.

I signed up for a running club at the gym yesterday that’s supposed to start in January!  The sign up sheet said the group is for everyone even people new to running so I can’t wait.  Apparently they’ll teach me how to run and get me in shape to do a 5k / 10 k race.  Woohoo!  I recognize a few of the names on the list so I have no doubts the class will be a lot of fun.  I can’t wait!  I just need to do some research on a good pair of sneakers for running.  Any suggestions anyone?

Anyhow I guess that’s the scoop.  I’m going to make an effort to blog everyday / keep a record of my fitness levels to keep me on track.

I’m going to add some new pictures to the Gallery afterwards too. :)

Enjoy!
